KCR Fulfills His Promise To Sonia?

During Telangana statehood agitation days, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao promised to merge TRS into Congress, if Congress-led UPA government bifurcates AP and creates separate Telangana State.

Believing him, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi granted statehood for Telangana in 2014 putting Congress future at stake in both AP and TS. Congress lost Assembly elections in both the states.

But then, KCR is known for changing his words and stand on any issue quite often. He did not merge TRS into Congress but dethroned Congress from power in Telangana in 2014 elections.

In recent Assembly polls, KCR again trounced Congress and came to power for second term. Readmore!

This time, he offered 'return gift' to Congress on merger. The return gift is fulfilling his earlier promise of TRS-Congress merger but in a 'reverse way', which means he forced Congress to merge into TRS and not other way around he promised to Sonia in 2014.

KCR made Congress MLCs in TS Legislative Council to quit Congress and make him submit a petition to Council chairman Swamy Goud to merge Congress into TRS.

Now, Swamy Goud issuing a bulletin approving merger of Congress into TRS is only a formality and a matter of time.

TRS leaders see this development of KCR fulfilling his promise to Sonia on Congress-TRS merger, but in a reverse way.
