Kanna Takes It On Self, Backs Amaravati

Even as the national BJP leaders are trying to wash off their hands leaving the capital issue to the Stat government, the party state president Kanna Lakshminarayana is trying to poke his nose on his own.

The BJP chief had initially welcomed the three capitals proposal of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. There were several BJP leaders who have also welcomed the government’s plans to give High Court to Rayalaseema.

But, Kanna and other leaders went back on their statements for the reasons best known to them and backed the Amaravati farmers and the TDP on the issue.

Kanna had even held a silent protest one day in Amaravati as mark of his support to the agitating farmers. Readmore!

However, the State BJP leaders observed silence for a couple of days with the party national spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao giving clarity on the issue leaving the decision to the party leadership.

Interestingly, Union Minister of State for Home, G Kishan Reddy, too had left the issue to the party national leadership and asked the party leaders to wait till the State government took a decision based on the reports.

But, contrary to these statements, Kanna Lakshminarayana had said that though the state government has the right to take a decision on the capital location, he insisted on the government holding talks with the stakeholders.

“The capital issue is purely the state government issue. The Central government can only advise the State, if asked,” the BJP chief said.

He said that Amaravati was decided as capital after every party accepted the proposal and wondered what was the reason for this government to change the capital.

When the party national leaders leave the decision to the State government, one wonders what made Kanna Lakshminarayana to sing the TDP song on Amaravati!
