At a time when all the opposition parties are expressing solidarity with the striking employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and attacking Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his stubborn stand, here is one leader who strongly supported KCR and denounced the RTC strike.
He is none other than ex-IAS officer and former MLA Jaya Prakash Narayan, founder of Lok Satta.
He said the demand of the employees for the merger of RTC with the state government was improper and ridiculous.
He also opposed the decision of the YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh to merger the RTC with the government.
Jaya Prakash Narayan said that the strike did not make any sense in Telangana.
"RTC employees should work for the public, instead of calling for a strike, they would have staged a protest with black badges," he asserted.
He said the government should enhance competitiveness of the RTC and make concessions for the survival of RTC.
On the other hand, the Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan supported the RTC employees and asked the Telangana government to hold talks with employees before the strike gets intensified.
He also said that the government's decision of sacking 48,000 employees is not correct.
