The ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh, which is targeting ace political director Ram Gopal Varma for his derogatory posts on social media against chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others, made an interesting comment on how the previous Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government benefitted him.
During the Jagan regime, Ram Gopal Varma was very active and was openly supporting him and his party, besides vehemently opposing Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh, who were in the opposition.
Varma made a movie titled Vyuham (Strategy), focusing on the strategies employed for Jagan's electoral victory. At the time, the YSRCP government extensively promoted this movie and telecasting it on the state-run Fibernet platform.
According to TDP spokesperson and present AP Fibernet chairman G V Reddy, the Jagan government had paid Rs 2.10 crore to Varma for broadcasting Vyuham on the AP FiberNet platform.
Reddy claimed that there were only 18 lakh views for Vyuham on AP Fibernet and so, the then government should have paid only Rs 2 lakh to Varma.
“But, an exorbitant Rs 2 crore was paid to the film maker instead,” he said.
He highlighted this as a prime example of how the FiberNet platform was misused during the YSRCP government.
Reddy further alleged that numerous unqualified employees were hired through WhatsApp and that they are now being removed.
He stated that during the YSRCP tenure, FiberNet had 10 lakh connections, but half of these were lost under their administration.
Currently, the FiberNet Corporation is in a state of bankruptcy, and efforts are underway to cut costs, raise funds, and stabilize operations.
Measures such as reducing FiberNet charges and offering new connections at lower rates are part of these efforts, he added.
