Jagan Attack Case: Court Raps Naidu Government!

In a setback to Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the NIA special court in Vijayawada on Friday pulled up the Special Investigation Team of Andhra police for not cooperating with the central agency in its probe into the knife attack on YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at Viskhapatnam airport on October 25.

The NIA court admitted a petition filed by the NIA authorities seeking a direction to the Andhra Pradesh police to share all the records and documents that the national agency had asked in connection with the case.

The NIA alleged that the Special Investigation Team of the state police was not cooperating with it in the probe.

Expressing anger over the SIT police, the court directed that it should handover all the records and documents pertaining to the case of attack on Jagan to the NIA authorities immediately. Readmore!

The court posted the case to January 23 for further hearing. It also remanded the accused Janipalli Srinivas till January 25 and sent him to Rajahmundry central prison.

Meanwhile, the Naidu government is contemplating moving the state high court challenging the decision of the NDA government at the Centre to entrust the probe to the NIA.

The government will file a petition in the high court asking for cancellation of the Union Home Ministry’s order handing over the case to NIA.

The government is arguing that the case was not of any inter-state or international issue to be dealt by the NIA and it amounted to infringing upon the powers of the state to control the law and order.
