In response to the recent demolitions carried out by HYDRAA, Commissioner A.V. Ranganath issued an official statement on Sunday, clarifying the actions taken in various locations.
Commissioner Ranganath explained that the demolitions in Madhapur's Sunnam Cheruvu and Mallampet Cheruvu in Dundigal involved structures either under construction or situated within Full Tank Level (FTL) or Buffer Zones without the required permits.
Specifically, the demolitions in Ameenpur involved compound walls, rooms, and sheds encroached upon by former Andhra Pradesh MLA Katasani Ram Bhoopal Reddy.
The sheds and hotel demolished in Sunnam Cheruvu were being used commercially and were located within the FTL. In Mallampet Cheruvu, Dundigal, seven villas that were still under construction and unoccupied were demolished due to their location in the FTL and the lack of proper building permissions.
Criminal cases have been filed against builder Vijay Lakshmi and former MLA Katasani Ram Bhoopal Reddy for their involvement in these violations.
The Commissioner assured the public that no occupied homes would be demolished. Properties that are currently occupied, even if located in FTL or Buffer Zones, will not be affected.
However, the public is strongly advised against purchasing properties in FTL or Buffer Zones of lakes. Those with doubts about the location of their property can consult the HMDA lakes website or contact our office for clarification.
