High Court shift to Kurnool, matter of time

Shifting of High Court to Kurnool is now a matter of time. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had met the Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad during his visit to Delhi the other day and gave a representation seeking early action.

The chief minister had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah early this week and briefed them about his plans on decentralization of the capital, which include shifting of secretariat to Visakhapatnam and High Court to Kurnool, while retaining the Assembly in Amaravti.

The chief minister had also sought the support of the Central government in his decision to abolish the Legislative Council in the State where he is having troubles with the TDP, which has majority in the Upper House.

He is not happy or comfortable with the TDP playing politics in the Upper House, though it would come under his control in just one-and-a-half years from now. Readmore!

Jagan Mohan Reddy does not want to wait or waste his time in pushing forward his programmes.

He is very clear, unlike his predecessor Chandrababu Naidu who talks about 20 years or 50 years while voted to power for five years, about his term and wants to complete whatever he had promised the people.

“I want to complete whatever I have promised and whatever I had decided in these five years,” Jagan Mohan Reddy told a journalist some time last week in his first-ever interview in the last eight months as chief minister.

As he had made up his mind to deliver whatever he wants in these five years and seek fresh mandate based on his performance, Jagan Mohan Reddy is not prepared to waste even one single day just for the TDP politics.

It is for this reason, the chief minister had made two visits to the national capital in just one week and set the things in place for him.

The BJP too has no option but to accept his plans as the party at the Centre need Jagan Mohan Reddy’s strength in Rajya Sabha, where he would be increasing his numbers from the present two to four in a month from now.

As Jagan Mohan Reddy plans to have his budget session sometime in the middle of March this year, the shift of the High Court and the Secretariat has to happen by then, besides abolition of the Legislative Council.
