There is ongoing debate about whether Srikakulam district YCP president and former minister, Dharmana Krishna Das, has set his sights on the Srikakulam Assembly constituency.
This speculation has arisen due to the inactivity of his brother, former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, who has been largely silent following the YCP’s defeat. Prasada Rao has not participated in any recent political programs.
Krishna Das, who was recently appointed district president of the YCP, has been actively conducting political activities from Srikakulam. Since Srikakulam is the central hub of the district, it is natural for him to focus his efforts there.
While the party has appointed in-charges for several constituencies, the issue of leadership for the Srikakulam constituency remains unresolved.
Second-tier YCP leaders are eyeing the position of Srikakulam Assembly Constituency in-charge. Although they believe they may not be able to compete directly with Prasada Rao, they argue that if given the position now, they can establish themselves in the area.
Currently, Krishna Das is managing both his own constituency, Narasannapet, and Srikakulam.
There is also speculation within the YCP that he may be positioning himself strategically with a long-term vision that could benefit his potential successor in the future.
