The Election Commission of India on Tuesday announced the schedule for by-elections to Dubbak assembly seat in Siddipet district, thereby bringing the election code of conduct into force with immediate effect.
The nomination process will begin on October 10 with the issuance of notification. The last date for nominations is October 16. The polling would be held on November 3 but the counting would be held only on November 10.
The announcement of schedule for the Dubbak bypolls brings to halt the whirlwind campaign by finance minister T Harish Rao, who has been entrusted with the task of ensuring victory of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi at any cost.
An hour before the announcement of schedule, Harish Rao had extensively toured villages in Dubbak assembly constituency and distributed cheques to the beneficiaries of Shadi Mubarak and Kalyan Lakshmi.
He said as many as seven lakh women got benefitted from the scheme in the last three years.
“So far, the TRS government had spent Rs 5,550 crore on Shadi Mukarak and Kalyan Lakshmi schemes, under which poor woman would be paid to the poor women,” he said.
The minister also made tall promises to farmers stating that they would be given investment for their crops.
