Don't allow Kodali, Vamsi win again: Naidu tells cadre

Though there is still three more years to go for the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has begun the groundwork from now on, so as to avoid complacency among the party leaders and cadres.

Naidu has initiated a series of strategic reviews aimed at strengthening the TDP across key constituencies, particularly those where the opposition YSRCP has the fair chances of bouncing back. He is focussing on retaining and expanding the party’s electoral base in such constituencies.

According to party sources, Naidu recently conducted a detailed review of the Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency, placing special focus on Gudivada and Gannavaram assembly segments.

During the meeting, he presented data and field-level inputs gathered on these constituencies to party leaders and issued clear directions on the course of action required. Readmore!

Naidu reportedly made it clear to party leaders that retaining seats under all circumstances would be a top priority. He is reviewing grassroots-level reports from crucial constituencies and holding a series of meetings with MLAs even during the ongoing assembly session.

Based on MLAs’ performance, party strength and recent survey reports, Naidu is finalising future strategies for each constituency. He has begun holding meetings with local MLAs, district collectors, SPs and in-charge ministers to review administrative and political performance.

During the Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency review, Naidu expressed satisfaction with the performance in Pamarru, Penamaluru and Gudivada assembly segments. However, he advised leaders from Machilipatnam, Gannavaram and Pedana to improve their performance, stating that results there were below expectations.

Sources said Naidu is closely monitoring Gannavaram and Gudivada, where YSRCP candidates Vallabhaneni Vamsi and Kodali Nani are expected to contest in the next elections. Both leaders were defeated by TDP candidates in the 2024 polls, and the party is determined to repeat that outcome in future elections.

He told the party leaders and cadre that under any circumstances, Kodali and Vamsi should not bounce back and win the Gudivada and Gannavaram seats. With heightened focus on these constituencies, political activity in the two segments is expected to intensify in the coming days.

In Avanigadda, the chief minister pointed out a lack of coordination among alliance partners and instructed leaders to immediately correct the situation. He observed that although local MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad had moved from TDP to the Jana Sena Party, efforts to maintain coordination with TDP leaders were inadequate.
