An Indian-origin man, Kris Kumar, who previously worked at a Burger King outlet in Florida, has been dubbed the “Burger King Bandit” after law enforcement officials alleged his involvement in the disappearance of cash from the restaurant’s safe.
According to reports, Kumar had been working as a manager at the outlet but was terminated after missing several shifts. He reportedly had access to both the key and the security code of the safe.
After $3,500 went missing from the outlet, Kumar became a prime suspect, especially as the incident occurred around the time he lost his job.
The new manager informed the police that someone had entered the business office and accessed the safe using the correct code. Kumar was believed to be the only other person who knew the combination.
Investigators later found that Kumar had visited a Home Depot before his termination to make a duplicate key for the restaurant.
Although he returned his official key and uniform after being fired, the duplicate key allegedly allowed him to re-enter the premises. Since the safe code had not been changed, it was reportedly easy for him to access the cash.
The theft is said to have taken place in mid-November 2025.
Earlier this month, a judge issued an arrest warrant for Kumar, and Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey referred to him as the “Burger King Bandit.”
