Puri Jagannath has largely stayed out of the spotlight following the back-to-back failures of Liger and Double iSmart.
The director, once known for his rapid filmmaking and consistent output, seemed to enter a phase of silence, with little clarity about his next move.
Earlier, he announced a project with Vijay Sethupathi titled Slumdog: 33 Temple Road, which generated curiosity to an extent.
However, since that announcement, there has been almost no official update, leading to speculation about the film’s status.
According to an internal source, the film is actually complete. Shooting has been wrapped up, post-production is finished, songs are locked, and the final copy is ready.
Despite this, the makers have chosen to hold back on promotions. The delay, as per the source, is linked to Tamil Nadu elections.
The team is said to be waiting for the Tamil Nadu elections to conclude before initiating promotions, aiming for better visibility and timing.
Another source suggests that business considerations are also a factor. OTT deals and distribution agreements are reportedly still under negotiation, and hence the delay, the source said.
