Day 12: Jr NTR's Film Fails to Recreate Magic

Devara Part 1, starring Jr NTR in a double role as father and son, Devara and Varadha, hit theaters on September 27.

Janhvi Kapoor, making her Telugu debut, stars as Varadha's love interest Thangam, while Saif Ali Khan, also making his Tollywood debut, plays the main antagonist Bhaira.

The film features a strong supporting cast, including Prakash Raj, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Sharma, and Shruti Marathe.

The film saw its lowest earnings on its second Monday, October 7, collecting just Rs 5 crore. On its 12th day, Tuesday, October 8, Devara dipped further, earning only Rs 4.50 crore, according to early estimates from the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk. Readmore!

Despite the decline, the Jr NTR starrer has crossed the Rs 250-crore mark in net collections in India, with global gross earnings nearing Rs 375 crore.

Devara Part 1 failed to match the impressive earnings of other films made with similar budgets.

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 became India’s first Hindi film to reach the Rs 800 crore mark with a production budget of just Rs 50 crore.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, was made with a budget of Rs 100 crore and grossed an impressive Rs 900 crore.

The blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone, grossed Rs 1000 crore. Films like RRR and K.G.F: Chapter 2 have set remarkable benchmarks in recent years.

Devara Part 1 will be followed by a second part, but fans will have to wait a little longer. Jr NTR is set to shift his focus to his next film with Prashanth Neel, tentatively titled NTR 31 or NTR Neel, which is slated for release on January 9, 2026.
