The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday told the Telangana high court that it might arrest YSR Congress party MP Y S Avinash Reddy, if necessary, after questioning him in the murder case of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
The court, however, directed that the CBI should not arrest the MP till Monday, when it would take up further hearing on the petition filed by him seeking that the agency should not take any coercive action.
Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana high court, who heard the petition of Avinash Reddy stating that the CBI inquiry was not transparent and impartial and requesting that the entire questioning be recorded in audio-visual methods.
He even said the slain YSRC leader had disputes within his family due to his second marriage and alleged that the CBI was not probing the case in that angle, but was only trying to implicate the same.
The court directed the CBI not arrest Avinash Reddy till Monday and asked the agency to submit all records and files before the date. It also asked the agency to submit the letter purportedly written by Viveka, minutes before his death.
The CBI told the court that it was video-recording the questioning of Avinash Reddy. On the court directions, it said it would submit the recorded video and hard disk to the court immediately in a sealed cover.
