Amaravati: Jagan govt submits status report to HC

The Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday submitted a status report to the state high court on the works being undertaken in Amaravati, the capital region, as per the court directions of March 3.

A division bench of the high court comprising chief justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, justice Somayajulu and justice Manavendranath Roy, which took up hearing on the petitions opposing three capitals’ plan, asked the state government what steps it had taken to implement the March 3 order.

The state government, which submitted a comprehensive status report on the works taken up in Amaravati, explained how it was raising financial resources to complete the pending works in the capital region as per the court directions.

The high court bench posted the case to August 23 for further hearing, asking the petitioners to file a counter on the status report by then.  Readmore!

The petitioners argued that the state government had resorted to contempt of court by not implementing the March 3 order of the high court.

They alleged that the government was not honouring the agreement signed by the farmers with APCRDA on the development of capital and handing over of the developed plots.

The high court has already set different deadlines for the completion of various pending works and handing over of plots to the farmers. It asked the government to submit periodical reports to the court on the progress of works.
