The Andhra Pradesh high court on Tuesday heard a petition filed by former YSR Congress party MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road alignment scam case.
During the hearing, the state government argued that the petition filed by Alla Ramakrishna Reddy seeking cancellation of Chandrababu Naidu’s anticipatory bail was not maintainable.
Advocate Jada Sravan Kumar informed the court that the CID had already filed a 542-page counter opposing the grant of anticipatory bail in the case and had also submitted certain evidence before the court.
He further stated that a protest petition had been filed without closing the case and that the matter is scheduled to come up for hearing before the ACB court on February 27.
After hearing the submissions, the high court directed the parties to submit detailed information and adjourned the matter to March 10 for further hearing.
Earlier, an ACB court in Vijayawada issued summons to Alla Ramakrishna Reddy asking him to appear before the court in person on February 27 in the Inner Ring Road (IRR) case.
The move followed a petition filed by Ramakrishna Reddy challenging notices served on him by the CID.
The agency had earlier informed him that the IRR case—linked to alleged irregularities between 2014 and 2019—was being examined under the classification of "Mistake of Facts" (MoF).
During the hearing, the ACB court sought clarification from the CID on whether it had any objections regarding the MoF status in the case.
The Judge also instructed Ramakrishna Reddy to present himself before the court and formally state his objections, if any, to the proceedings initiated by the CID.
Interestingly, Ramakrishna Reddy was the original complainant in the case. He alleged large-scale irregularities in the alignment of the proposed Inner Ring Road project.
In his complaint, he claimed that the road alignment was deliberately altered and the information leaked to certain key leaders of the TDP and associates of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, enabling them to allegedly acquire vast extents of land along the proposed corridor.
