Actress Sreeleela has come under fire on social media following her recent comments about menstruation made during a public appearance.
The actress, who recently completed her medical degree from DY Patil University, Mumbai, spoke about pushing beyond physical limitations while addressing the audience at the success party of Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
During her speech, Sreeleela said that she had shot for songs even while on her period and added that it should not be seen as an excuse.
She emphasized that if women seek equality and empowerment, they should be willing to push beyond both psychological and physiological barriers.
Her remarks quickly triggered strong reactions online, with many users disagreeing and pointing out that menstrual experiences vary widely from person to person.
One user commented that just because someone can manage physical activity during periods does not mean others can do the same.
Another pointed out that for many women, period pain can be severe, yet they continue to manage work and responsibilities every month.
A third user criticized the statement as insensitive, arguing that it undermines the real struggles faced by many women, especially coming from someone with a medical background.
So far, Sreeleela has not issued any clarification or response to the backlash.
Sreeleela made her acting debut with Kiss (2019) and gained wider recognition with her appearance in Pushpa 2: The Rule, where she featured in a dance number alongside Allu Arjun.
She will next be seen in Anurag Basu’s upcoming musical romance alongside Kartik Aaryan.
Additionally, she is set to star opposite Dhanush in his next project, tentatively titled D55, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy.
