All eyes on Jagan, KCR meet today

The two Telugu chief ministers are holding a crucial meeting in Hyderabad today. This is the second meeting in a row in the last three months.

The officials of the two states have been holding similar meetings to sort out bifurcation issues.

The issues like sharing of assets and liabilities of the institutions listed in Schedule IX and X of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 is one of the core issues for this meeting.

The other issue is the linking of Godavari with Krishna to give water to Rayalaseema in AP and Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar in Telangana. Readmore!

The two chief ministers have come out with a plan to take Godavari water to Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar. The two states would share the project cost, while Telangana would execute it.

Opposition parties in the two states have criticised the move, but the two chief ministers are firm on going forward with their plans.

Water for the two States is very important in the years to come as Krishna river would have no water with Karnataka and Maharastra either increasing the height of the existing projects are constructing new projects.

The only source for the Telugu States is Godavari and hence the two chief ministers are bent on using the Godavari water through this mega project.

There is at least 3,500 tmcft of water in Godavari going into the sea every year. The governments want to use it for the drought prone Rayalaseema in AP and Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar in TS.
