It is an open secret that one of the reasons why YSR Congress party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had lost the assembly elections in June this year to the Telugu Desam Party-led NDA with a huge margin, was the coterie of leaders around him.
Many YSRCP leaders have accused this coterie of leaders, including Y V Subba Reddy, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, V Vijay Sai Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy of misleading Jagan about the silent anti-incumbency wave building up against his government ahead of elections.
Besides other party leaders including former ministers like Perni Nani, Gudivada Amarnath, Ambati Rambabu and R K Roja have also failed to present a factual position before Jagan and simply followed the “Why not 175” theory proposed by the Indian Political Action Committee headed by Rishi Raj Singh.
It is not even five months since the NDA led by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu came to power in the state with a huge mandate, but the same YSRCP leaders are back to their old game of misleading Jagan and praising him that the people desperately want him back to power.
At a party meeting held at Tirupati on Sunday, leader after the leader announced that the YSRCP is going to come back to power in the next elections at any cost and Jagan is going to become the chief minister once again, as the people strongly want him to be in the driver’s seat.
Leaders like Sai Reddy, who has tremendous network in New Delhi, declared that the next assembly elections will be held by 2027 end, along with snap polls to Lok Sabha as part of one-nation-one election strategy.
So, the YSRCP says Naidu will be in power only till 2027 and Jagan will return to power again after that. Sai Reddy gave a call to the YSRCP leaders and cadre to begin preparations for the next assembly elections from now on.
Well, there is nothing wrong in being optimistic of returning to power in Andhra Pradesh once again, but the YSRCP leaders have forgotten the fact that it has not even been five months since Jagan lost power.
Assuming that AP will go early elections in 2027, there is still three years’ time for Naidu to rule the state and it is still a long time for any party to think of elections.
Yet, the YSRCP leaders are trying to mislead Jagan saying that he will be back as the chief minister very soon. The funniest part of their campaign is that there has already been a huge anti-incumbency against the Naidu government.
“Except the hue and cry being made by the YSRCP leaders, there has been not even a single agitation by the people in protest against the Naidu government’s misrule. It will take some more time to witness anti-incumbency getting built up. So, why are the YSRCP leaders trying to campaign that Jagan is going to be the next CM soon?” an analyst asked.
