It looks like there is no difference between YSR Congress party and Telugu Desam Party with regard to their presence and activities in Telangana.
Both the parties had been in existence only for the name sake without any acceptance from the public.
The Telangana TDP won 15 assembly seats in 2014 assembly elections lost its existence within no time as 12 of its MLAs defected to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
In 2018 elections, the TDP joined hands with the Congress, TJS and the CPI, but ended up with just three seats and all of them later joined the TRS.
It is now only on paper with most of its leaders jumping into either TRS or the BJP. Even Telangana TDP president L Ramana is likely to defect to the ruling party.
The YSRC which had won three MLA seats and one MP seat in 2014 assembly elections, but all of them joined the TRS.
The party still had considerable presence in Telangana for a few years and in 2018, it did not contest the elections but indirectly supported the TRS in some constituencies.
Subsequently, the Telangana YSRC, too, has become inactive and most its cadre are now rallying behind Y S Sharmila, sister of YSRC president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister.
And on Thursday, YSRC Telangana unit president Gattu Srikanth Reddy also deserted the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party to sustain his political career.
With this, the YSRC has become virtually defunct in Telangana!
