'Toxic' Delayed Again, Yash Targets Global Release Window

Kannada superstar Yash’s much-anticipated film Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has once again been postponed.

The film, which had earlier avoided a box-office clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge on March 19, was later slated for a June 4 release. It will now arrive on a later date aligned with a global rollout.

The makers initially cited tensions in the Middle East as a reason for pushing the release.

In a fresh statement on Wednesday, Yash revealed that the decision to delay further was driven by the film’s strong international response at CinemaCon and the need to maximise its global reach. Readmore!

“There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey,” Yash said, adding that the reception at CinemaCon reinforced the team’s belief that the film deserves a wider worldwide release.

He confirmed that the shoot has been completed and the team is currently working on aligning global distribution and partnerships.

“While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will arrive at a later, globally aligned date. Toxic will hit theatres worldwide soon,” he stated.

Yash also emphasised the importance of timing in the current phase of Indian cinema’s global expansion.

“As Indian cinema finds its voice on the global stage, we have a responsibility to raise the bar. As an actor-producer, I want to ensure our film reaches audiences with the impact it is meant to have,” he said.

In an earlier note, the team had explained that ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, particularly in the Middle East, could affect the film’s reach among international audiences.

The makers stressed that the decision to delay was taken to ensure the film connects with the widest possible audience.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.

Shot in Kannada and English, the film will also be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.

The film features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.
