YS Jagan Ranks No#5 As Best Performing CM

MOTN (Mood Of The Nation) survey is out. Based on several parameters right from public acceptance, Covid 10 control measures and hassle free administration, the ranks were given to all the Chief Ministers in India in the best performance category.

Yogi Adityanath stood No#1 in this. What has put Adityanath in good stead is the fact that he understands and caters to the majoritarian sentiment. For instance, the MOTN survey shows 54 per cent of the respondents back Adityanath's anti-conversion ordinance and 58 per cent support laws against interfaith marriages.

Even though the past year has been particularly discomforting for the CM, Adityanath seems to have handled the Covid-19 pandemic remarkably well despite the state being one of the largest recipients of home-bound migrants.

For the fourth time in a row, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been rated as the best performing CM in India, according to the India Today Group-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation (MOTN) January 2021 poll. The firebrand CM, who heads the most politically crucial state and has emerged as the star campaigner for the BJP across the country, has secured 25 per cent of the total votes in the MOTN survey. Interestingly, the 48-year-old, one of the youngest CMs in India, has seen his approval ratings increase by one percentage point from the August edition of the MOTN survey despite facing backlash for giving legal validation to one of the Hindu right-wing politics' pet projects -- 'love jihad' -- and his handling of the Hathras gangrape and murder case.

The latest survey also shows that four of the top five best performing chief ministers are from non-BJP and non-Congress parties. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has held on to the second spot, securing 14 per cent of the total votes, while Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal) is in third, Nitish Kumar of Bihar stood 4th.  Jagan Mohan Reddy (Andhra Pradesh) is in fifth position.
