Andhra Pradesh State Vigilance officials have been conducting extensive searches in Tirumala for the past three to four days.
Are these searches aimed at implicating former TTD EO Dharma Reddy? This is the topic of much discussion.
Dharma Reddy is recognized as the most controversial person in the YCP government.
He is considered the one who troubled many YCP leaders by not valuing their letters for citizens requesting darshans, which are part of the established rules.
Regarding the affairs in Tirumala, there is strong criticism that Dharma Reddy dealt with matters in a highly controversial manner.
Being directly acquainted with the then Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, whose word was considered final, Dharma Reddy continued his activities in Tirumala according to his own whims and fancies.
If he liked someone, they would be given royal protocol darshan; otherwise, he would trouble them. Simply put, instead of following the rules, he played his own favoritism and antipathy in dealing with Tirumala darshans.
In this context, Dharma Reddy made many enemies. The leaders of the Alliance suggest that his past behavior as EO now seems to be coming back to haunt him.
Currently, state vigilance officials have initiated inspections in Tirumala, scrutinizing irregularities in civil works, darshanas and the Srivani Trust.
The activities in Tirumala over the past five years are being investigated thoroughly.
There is widespread speculation that Dharma Reddy is being targeted. Dharma Reddy is set to retire at the end of this month, and Alliance leaders suggest that he could be implicated in a case before his retirement. We will have to wait and see what unfolds.
But the irony is that many YCP leaders are happy and content to see Dharma Reddy being targeted by the ruling government.
That is the kind of enemies Dharma Reddy garnered during his tenure as EO of TTD.
