Won't enter T'gana politics unless people ask me: Pawan

Jana Sena Party chief and actor Pawan Kalyan virtually dampened the spirits of his fans and followers in Telangana on Saturday, when he expressed reluctance to enter the politics in the state.

Pawan addressed the party workers at a convention centre on Chevella Road on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Saturday evening.

The party leaders made an extensive campaign on the social media, saying Pawan would make a strong pitch for activating the Jana Sena party in Telangana.

But, while addressing the meeting, Pawan Kalyan made it clear that he won’t enter the Telangana politics, until the people here wanted him. Readmore!

“I have launched my political party on the soil of Telangana. The movement for separate Telangana state has inspired me to launch Jana Sena and it gave me a lot of fighting spirit,” he said.

Pawan, however, said it was difficult to sustain in Telangana politics.

“I respect Telangana language and slag. One would get the experience only if one enters the battle. But I won’t enter the Telangana politics, unless the people of Telangana request me to come here,” he said.

At the same time, he announced that he would support those who are fighting for the issues of Telangana and strive to see that such people entered the state assembly,

The Jana Sena did not contest the assembly elections in Telangana held in December 2018 stating that it was not fully prepared to fight the polls.

However, it contested a few seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the state in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party but failed to make any impact.

Pawan Kalyan’s party was desperate to contest the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections in December 2020, but it was forced to beat a retreat under pressure from its alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party.

On the political situation in Andhra Pradesh, Pawan said the state was presently witnessing a bitter fight between two castes and the development of the state had taken a back seat.

“There should be no scope for caste and religion in politics. Unfortunately, the present day politics in AP is plagued by caste, religion and region. I am speaking facts and not instigating any castes,” he said
