Andhra Pradesh home minister Mekathoti Sucharitha on Monday strongly reacted to the letter written by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to Prime Minister Narendra Modi making telephone tapping charges against the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
“How can a person who served as the chief minister of the state for a long time make such wild allegations against the government? Will he keep quiet, if somebody makes allegations that his son Lokesh has raped a woman? Will Naidu keep quiet if he is charged with committing 10 murders?” Sucharita asked.
She accused Naidu of making baseless allegations only to tarnish the image of the Jagan government, which has been gaining a lot of popularity by implementing welfare schemes.
The home minister said telephone tapping was done only in case of anti-social elements and terrorist.
“Are you an anti-social element or a terrorist? Or are you afraid that your money laundering activities will come out if telephone tapping is done?” she asked.
Sucharita ridiculed Naidu for showering praises on Modi.
“In the past, you made personal attacks on Modi. Now you are praising him. This is nothing but sheer opportunism,” she alleged.
She said if Naidu had any evidences of telephone tapping, he should produce them to the Director General of Police.
“Otherwise, be prepared to face the punishment for making baseless allegations,” she said.
