Will it be only Praja Vedika for now?

The officials of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) have started making preparations for the demolition of Praja Vedika, the conference hall adjacent to opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence at Vundavalli in Amaravati.

Following an order from YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the officials have started removing all the material including air conditioners, lights, furniture, flower pots and others from the hall soon after the completion of his conference with the IPS officers on Tuesday evening.

According to official sources, the demolitions will begin at 8.30 am on Wednesday. And it is expected to be completed within a day or two.

Apparently, Jagan has ordered construction of a new conference hall with all the facilities and due permissions at a different location within the capital city.

However, one wonders whether the demolitions will stop with just Praja Vedika or other illegal constructions as well.

The CRDA authorities have identified as many as 22 such illegal structures, including the residence of Naidu on the banks of Krishna river.

Sources said such demolitions will not be done immediately.

“The Praja Vedika is being demolished easily because it is a government building. All others are private buildings and we have to go through a legal process before demolishing the same. So, first we shall issue notices to them,” an official source said.
