Will HC order CBI probe into Viveka murder?

The sensational case of YSR Congress party leader and former MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder at his own residence in Pulivendula in Kadapa district on March 15 last year has still remained a mystery.

Though it has been eight months since YSRC led by Viveka’s nephew Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power in Andhra Pradesh, the case has made no headway and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has not been able to identify the killers.

As a result, there has been a growing demand for entrusting the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A series of petitions have been filed in the state high court demanding that the case be handed over to the CBI.

On Tuesday, Viveka’s daughter Y S Sunitha also filed another petition in the high court demanding the CBI probe into his murder. Earlier, her mother and Viveka’s wife Soubhagyamma also filed the same petition. Readmore!

Besides, Telugu Desam Party MLC B Tech Ravi and former minister, present Bharatiya Janata Party leader C Adinarayana Reddy also filed separate petitions in the high court demanding that the case be handed over to the CBI.

Apparently, the high court made it clear that it would hear all the petitions together and go into the merits of the demand.

The Jagan government, however, argued that there was no need for the CBI inquiry since the SIT was doing an effective job in the investigation.

However, the high court will take a call after hearing the arguments in the petitions shortly before ordering the CBI probe into the murder.
