Will DS Quit RS, Before Joining Cong?

With the election atmosphere building up in the Telangana state, it is more or less certain that veteran leader and Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP D Srinivas will come out of the party to decide his future course of action.

Since TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has not been taking any decision on the complaint made against him by Nizamabad MP K Kavitha and other TRS leaders from the district, DS felt he has no place in the party anymore.

Though he announced that he will not resign from the party on his own, he has no option but to do so because the state assembly is all set to be dissolved and it is going to early elections.

If he does not take any decision now, he will be lost out in the race. That is why, he wrote a letter to KCR on Tuesday asking the latter to suspend him. Readmore!

Reports say DS has already got clearance from the Congress party high command for making a re-entry into the party.

In all probability, DS will re-join the Congress in the presence of the party chief Rahul Gandhi along with MLC Bhupati Reddy on September 12 or 13.

But the question is whether DS will continue in the Rajya Sabha seat to which he was nominated by the TRS president.

Sources close to him said DS wants to quit the Rajya Sabha seat and contest the state assembly elections on the Congress ticket from Nizamabad rural constituency.

By resigning from the RS seat, he also wants to show that he is a man of integrity.

However, it is learnt the state Congress leadership wants him to continue in the RS seat because it has become a practice now for all the political parties.

“When the Congress MLAs and MP who defected to the TRS can retain their posts, what’s wrong in DS retaining his Rajya Sabha seat? He still has four years to complete his term. He can happily continue as an MP, leaving the assembly seat to his son or his followers,” a Telangana Congress leader said.
