Why so much 'respect' for Vijayamma, Mr Lokesh?

YSR Congress party spokesperson and former MLA Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy on Monday strongly criticized newly-appointed working president of Telugu Desam Party and AP information technology minister Nara Lokesh for showering “sudden” love for YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother Y S Vijayalakshmi.

Speaking to reporters, Siva Prasad Reddy said the way Lokesh extended birthday greetings to Vijayamma clearly showed his political motives rather than genuine respect.

He questioned the inconsistency in Lokesh’s actions, stating that those who now claim to respect Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother and admire his sister are simultaneously targeting his wife, calling it a clear reflection of unethical politics.

He pointed out that Vijayamma’s birthday is a moment of joy for YSRCP cadre and the people who respect the YSR family, but Lokesh’s sudden display of affection raises serious doubts, especially when he had never shown such regard in the past. Readmore!

He stated that this “newfound respect” is part of a calculated attempt to exploit internal family differences for political gain and to distance Jagan from his family.

Recalling past incidents, he said YSRCP leaders cannot forget how Vijayamma was subjected to humiliating vehicle checks during the previous TDP regime, questioning the sincerity behind current greetings from the same quarters.

He further criticized the selective nature of such gestures, asking whether similar wishes were ever extended to the mothers of other leaders, including national figures and allies, and termed this as clear hypocrisy.

Rachamallu also said the ruling leadership interfered in personal family matters for political advantage, warning that such tactics only create mental distress within families and reflect a lack of political ethics.

He stated that attempts are being made to selectively target members of Jagan’s family while simultaneously projecting concern for others, calling it a strategy driven purely by political vendetta.

He concluded by urging the public to observe what he described as the “deceptive politics” of the ruling leadership, stating that such actions expose a pattern of manipulation aimed at weakening political opponents rather than addressing public issues.
