Water Dispute, A Vote-Catching Strategy!

Newly-appointed Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy on Thursday described the ongoing dispute between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over Krishna water sharing as a mere “vote-catching strategy” adopted by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Revanth said Krishna river dispute was the creation of KCR, aimed at attracting the votes of Telangana people by kicking up the sentiment.

“For the people of Telangana, Krishna water is a life and death question, but for KCR it is a vote catching issue. Whenever there are elections, he raises this water dispute,” he said.

Revanth said the projects being constructed on Krishna river in Telangana would be able to utilise only one TMC per day, but Andhra chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was planning to draw 11 TMC per day. Readmore!

“But KCR is mortgaging the interests of Telangana for Andhra,” he alleged.

Revanth wondered why the Telangana government had failed to file a petition before the National Green Tribunal against Rayalaseema Lift Scheme, whereas an ordinary farmer Gavinolla Srinivas was fighting a relentless battle.

“It was only after the judgement came in favour of Srinivas did the government implead in the case,” he pointed out.

He took strong exception to Telangana ministers abusing former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

“NTR and YSR were legends and they had done a lot for the state with their welfare schemes and the people of Telangana have a lot of respect for them. But KCR felicitates Jagan and offered him sumptuous lunch, while his ministers abuse YSR,” he ridiculed.

Revanth wondered why Jagan and his mother Vijayamma were not reacting when Telangana ministers were attacking YSR with foul language.

“These ministers are creating a wedge between the two states by abusing YSR. The fact is that Jagan is conspiring to loot Telangana waters, not YSR,” he said.
