It appears former Congress MP from Rajahmundry Vundavalli Arun Kumar is hell bent on seeing media baron and Eenadu group chairman Ch Ramoji Rao behind the bars at least for a day.
Vundavalli, who has been virtually hounding Ramoji Rao in the Mardarsi Chit Funds scam, alleged that Ramoji Rao had the capability to influence even the judiciary.
“He has a lot of clout among the judges. His lawyers are capable of sending anybody to jail, if they want,” he said.
The former MP wondered why Ramoji Rao and his daughter-in-law Kiran were so adamantly insisting that the case pertaining to the Margadarsi scam should be heard only in Telangana high court, when the violation of Chit Fund Act had taken place in Andhra Pradesh.
“It clearly shows that Ramoji Rao had the capacity to influence the judiciary in Telangana,” he said and alleged that the media baron was blackmailing the institutions through his newspaper and channel.
He demanded that the CID authorities should disclose the videos pertaining to questioning of Ramoji Rao and Sailaja.
“They have to be arrested to expose the scam. When the CID authorities could arrest Adireddy Appa Rao in Chit Fund case, why can’t they arrest Ramoji Rao?” he asked.
Vundavalli said there was huge gap between the money deposited by the people in Margadarsi and the cash balances of the company.
“It requires a detailed probe into the scam,” he said.
The former MP went a step further and alleged that Ramoji Rao had illegally encroached upon the lands of the villagers for Ramoji Film City.
“The RFC is an illegal construction. Ramoji Rao had acquired lands in violation of the Land Ceiling Act,” he said.
Stating that the value of lands occupied by Ramoji Rao are now worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore, Vundavalli demanded that the government should immediately take back those lands.
