Popular television news anchor Parvathaneni Venkata Krishna is learnt to have been removed by ABN-Andhra Jyothy television news channel on allegations of corruption.
According to grapevine, Venkata Krishna was caught red-handed while allegedly blackmailing a person and demanding certain amount of money from him, failing which a scandalous story would be telecast in the channel against him.
It is learnt the ABN-Andhra Jyothy management asked Venkata Krishna to put in his papers and get out of the organisation.
There were also reports that the channel management was not happy with the way he has been conducting the debates in the last few months.
The recent episode in which an Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi activist assaulted BJP state general secretary Vishnu Vardhan Reddy damaged the reputation of the channel very much.
It may be recalled that Venkata Krishna had joined ABN-Andhra Jyothy in April 2020, after he was removed from the post of director and editor-in-chief of news channel AP 24X7, following differences with the management.
Majority of the management members of AP 24X7 were not happy with his blatant pro-Telugu Desam Party stand. Added to this, the crisis in the media field because of the lockdown also hastened his exit from the channel.
There were also allegations that he had been receiving “package” from the TDP bosses to promote the party and run down the ruling YSR Congress in the channel. This has obviously not gone down well with the management.
