Upasana Kamineni, daughter-in-law of megastar Chiranjeevi and vice-chairperson of Apollo Foundation, has got one more feather to her cap.
On Monday, Upasana received Golden Visa from the United Arab Emirates government, a rare privilege given to a very few celebrities across the world. Now, she can travel to the UAE permanently and would get all the privileges of a UAE citizen.
The mega daughter-in-law disclosed this on her Instagram. She said: “This Christmas I received a very special gift that opens up endless opportunity. A gift that reiterates what I was taught at the @indiaatexpo2020 - "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" - the world is one family.”
She said she was very happy to get her UAE Golden Visa.
“Heart & soul is Indian with immense respect for all nations. I'm officially a global citizen! @uaegov #goldenvisa,” Upasana said.
Generally, foreign nationals going to UAE for education, employment or business should have to be sponsored by the locals.
If a person gets a Global Visa, he or she can take up any activity in that country without any national sponsorship.
Since Golden Visa is a long-term visa, the person holding it would be treated on par with the UAE citizen.
Though they are issued for a period of five years or 10 years, they would get automatically renewed. This has been in practice since 2019.
So far, several Indian celebrities were granted UAE Golden Visa, including tennis superstar Sania Mirza, Malayalam actors Mammotty, Mohan Lal, Dulqar Salman, actress Trisha and singer Chitra.
Even Bollywood family of Boney Kapoor was given the Golden Visa. Upasana got this rare honour for her relentless social service.
