Temple Kissing Scene Puts Netflix In A Fix!

A police case has been filed against online streaming service Netflix over a controversial kiss scene in the web series A Suitable Boy directed by Mira Nair. There’s a scene where a Muslim boy kisses a Hindu girl against the backdrop of a Hindu temple.

An FIR was registered in Madhya Pradesh state on Monday against two executives of Netflix for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of Hindus.

Narottam Mishra, Minister of Madhya Pradesh State stated that the series has objectionable scenes that hurt the sentiments of a particular region.

On the basis of a complaint filed by Gaurav Tiwari, an FIR is being registered under section 295 (A) of the IPC in Rewa against Netflix officials Monika Shergil and Ambika Khurana, Nair said in a statement. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra said the complaint against Netflix series was ironic when Khajuraho Temple in Madhya Pradesh has always encouraged love.

She took to Twitter and wrote, “Irony dies a 1000 deaths under BJP MP govt asks police to check Netflix series for kissing scenes filmed in temple & if it hurts sentiments. Meanwhile, in Khajuraho just 300 km away from the state capital…”
