Telangana polls only in April? KTR thinks so

The assembly elections to the Telangana state assembly may not be held in December as per the original schedule but might be postponed by another three or four months, says Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and Telangana information technology minister K T Rama Rao on Tuesday.

Speaking to media persons at Pragati Bhavan, KTR said if the elections to the Telangana assembly have to be held in December, the Election Commission of India should release the election schedule before October 10.

“But there is no such possibility given the ongoing developments. As far as I know, the assembly elections in Telangana might take place only after six months, maybe in April, simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

However, there will be clarity on the simultaneous elections after the special session of Parliament to be held next week, he said. Readmore!

The BRS working president exuded confidence that whether it was simultaneous polls or separate polls, the BRS was in an advantageous position.

“There is a positive wave in favour of the BRS, after the declaration of candidates. We shall get not less than 90 seats,” he said.

KTR said in the event of simultaneous elections to Telangana assembly and Lok Sabha, KCR would continue as the caretaker chief minister till the election process was completed and it would help him implement more development and welfare schemes.

Stating that the people of Telangana had no faith in the Congress, KTR said they would not accept parties with slave mentality.

“These leaders of so-called national parties have mortgaged their self-respect with Delhi bosses. The people have to decide between genuine Telangana protagonists and slaves of Delhi,” he said.
