Telangana Congress leaders on Monday asked the plice department to enhance security to their senior leaders in the wake of counting of votes for the Telangana assembly elections, polling for which was held on Friday.
A delegation of the Congress leaders led by former MP Madhu Yashki met Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy at his office and submitted a representation to this effect to him.
The delegation included PCC treasurer Gudur Narayan Reddy and secretary Harkara Venugopal and others.
Since the attacks were held on several Congress leaders including Madhu Yashki, K S Ratnam, Pilot Purohit Reddy, Gudur Narayan Reddy and Vamshichand Reddy on polling day in different constituencies, they have urged the DGP to provide additional security to their leaders.
They expressed dissatisfaction over the steps taken by the Security Review Committee till now.
They expressed their satisfaction over the DGP response and said he had spoken to District SPs, IG's and commissioners concerned and ordered full security to the Congress leaders in their respective assembly constituencies.
They said that DGP also assured them that police staff will take video recordings to avoid any untoward incidents and to punish the culprit.
