Telugu Desam Party on Tuesday threatened to take penal action against state legislature secretary P Balakrishnamacharyulu for rejecting the file sent by legislative council chairman pertaining to constitution of select committees to look into the capital bills.
“Nobody, including the courts, can question the discretionary powers of the legislative council chairman. How can an official question the decision of the chairman? It is like chief secretary of the state refusing to implement the orders of the chief minister,” senior TDP leader and former minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said.
He said the TDP was planning to move a privilege motion against legislature secretary. A decision would be taken after discussing in the council.
“If the chairman pronounces penal action against the secretary, will Director General of Police refuse to implement?” he asked.
