The second wave of the dreaded Coronavirus has been taking the lives of several prominent people, celebrities, journalists and television personalities for the last few weeks.
On Monday, M Manichandana, daughter of Vemuri Balaram, editor and publisher of popular Telugu magazine “Swathi” succumbed to the Coronavirus disease. She has been the managing editor the weekly.
Manichandana is just 46 years old and is survived by her husband Anil Kumar, chief income tax commissioner of Andhra Pradesh and two daughters.
According to information received here, Manichandana has been sick for the last one year and recently, she tested positive for Covid-19. However, she was cured of the virus a few days ago.
However, the post-Covid complications continue to trouble her for the last few days and on Sunday night, her Oxygen saturation levels dropped suddenly. She was rushed to the hospital and she breathed her last on Monday morning.
Manichandana is the only daughter of Vemuri Balaram. In 2010-11, there were reports that she had dispute with her father over share of properties of Swati.
Balaram even complained to the police that Manichandana, along with her influential husband, tried to force him out of Swati management.
Subsequently, the CBI filed a case against Anil Kumar for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. There were allegations that the CBI conducted raids following a complaint given by Balaram himself.
The properties of Swathi are said to be worth nearly Rs 2,000 crore. Later, Balaram got back his assets by moving the court.
