Sunitha meets Sharmila: What's cooking?

The sudden meeting of Dr Narreddy Sunitha, daughter of slain former Andhra Pradesh minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy, with her cousin and newly-appointed Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila on Monday has generated further heat in the already heated-up state politics.

Sunitha came down to Idupulapaya estate to meet Sharmila and both of them had two-hour long discussions after paying tributes at the samadhi of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

The meeting assumes significance in the wake of Sharmila’s meeting of the Congress leaders and cadre in Kadapa parliamentary seat in the afternoon.

And this is for the first time that Sunitha has met Sharmila, after the latter took over as the PCC chief and started attacking her brother with pungent comments. Readmore!

There has been a talk in the state political circles that Sunitha might also join the Congress sooner or later and might be fielded from Kadapa parliamentary constituency. Sharmila might contest from Pulivendula assembly constituency.

It is not immediately known whether Sunitha will also join the Congress meeting at Kadapa this afternoon.

Sharmila has earlier supported Sunita in the ongoing CBI investigation in Viveka's murder. Sunitha has been waging a lone battle to get justice in the case.

Her only worry is that if she joins the Congress, she might have to attack the BJP as well and thus, she might not get the support from the Centre in her legal battle.

“As such, she might not take a call on politics immediately,” sources said.
