As expected, sulking YSR Congress party MLA and former home minister Mekathoti Sucharita on Wednesday came out of her hibernation and said she would sail with party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy forever.
Though Jagan did not give her appointment for a couple of days, she could finally meet him on Wednesday at the Tadepalli camp office, following the initiative taken by Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkata Ramana.
The chief minister is learnt to have taken Sucharita to task for threatening to resign from her MLA post and revolt against the party.
After getting the dressing down, Sucharita came out and told the media that she would continue to sail with Jagan as long as she is in politics.
She said she had come into politics with the blessings of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and grown from a ZPTC to the level of home minister, thanks to Jagan.
“I could not come out for quite some time, because I underwent surgery,” she said.
Sucharita admitted that she had become emotional after being denied the cabinet berth. But she claimed that she had not submitted any resignation letter.
“I only sent him a thanks-giving letter, expressing gratitude to Jagan for giving me a cabinet berth in 2019. But it was projected as resignation letter by a section of media,” she said.
She said Jagan had treated her like a family member.
“He asked me to work for the party and then, positions would come to me automatically. He told us well in advance that he was going to drop many of the ministers. So, I was not shocked for being dropped,” she added.
However, she had no answer as to why her followers had held agitations and protests in support of her and why several MPTCs and ZPTCs had resigned in solidarity with her.
