Somu Veerraju to quit politics after 2024!

Bharatiya Janata Party Andhra Pradesh unit president Somu Veerraju seems to have realised that the party doesn’t have any future in Andhra Pradesh and there is no possibility of him getting elected as any public representative at all.

On Tuesday, Veerraju declared that he would not continue in politics after 2024, if the BJP doesn’t get a chance to come to power.

“I have been in politics for the last 42 years and I have never aspired for any posts during this period,” he said.

He reminded that he was offered the cabinet minister post during the Chandrababu Naidu regime, but he had rejected the same. Readmore!

“The BJP is the only alternative to the YSR Congress party in AP. I sincerely wish the people of the state give clear mandate to the BJP in the next elections,” he said.

Stating that he had never craved for any posts, the state BJP president said even if the BJP comes to power, he did not have any desire to become the chief minister.

“If the BJP doesn’t come to power, I will quit the politics,” he clarified.

Veerraju alleged that corruption had reached its peak during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

“The chief minister has been indulging in indiscriminate borrowings to fund his populist schemes. He has not been able to run the government properly,” he said.

The BJP leader said the Centre had been releasing funds for the Polavaram project in tune with the expenditure incurred by the state government and completion of works.

“It is ironic that Jagan, who had alleged that Naidu had increased the project cost indiscriminately, was now asking the Centre to release funds as per the escalated cost,” he criticised.
