Akhanda 2 is heading towards a major box office disappointment, going by its weak collections so far. There is a wide gap between the high stakes on the film and the revenue it is managing to earn.
Trade circles are calling the trend alarming, as the film has failed to pick up momentum even after the initial days of release, despite non stop promotions.
What has surprised many in the industry is the film’s performance in Krishna district.
On the 7th day which happens to be Thursday, the total collection from the entire district was reported to be just around Rs 1.75 lakh, which is considered shockingly low for a film of this scale.
Such numbers have raised serious concerns about audience reception and ground-level reach. Even the total share from the district, so far, is only Rs 2.77 Cr.
The TDP, along with its alliance government, has a strong hold in regions like Uttarandhra, Krishna, Guntur, East Godavari and West Godavari districts. However, Akhanda 2 has performed worst in these very areas compared to other regions.
While collections are poor across all regions, the abysmal response in TDP-dominant belts has clearly raised eyebrows in trade and political circles alike.
