Y S Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, is all set to announce the launch of her new political party on April 9, sources close to her revealed.
According to these sources, Sharmila will declare her party at a massive public meeting she is going to address at Khammam on April 9, after holding the last Atmeeya Sammelanam in the district.
She is planning to mobilise at least one lakh people to her public meeting and she held detailed discussions with her followers from the district to this effect.
She has reportedly applied for three names for the party – YSR Telangana Party, YSR Party Telangana and Rajanna Rajyam. Once the party is launched, she will work out a series of programmes and then go on a padayatra from May 14, sources said.
Though Sharmila initially thought of launching the party on July 8, coinciding with the birth anniversary of her father, her advisors reportedly told her it would be too late and suggested that the sooner it is, the better would be for her.
After a lot of discussion with her supporters, she zeroed in on April 9, which would be ideal time.
“By that time, by-elections would be over and all the parties would be exhausted. We can make a fresh beginning then,” she reportedly said.
On Tuesday, Sharmila would be holding a meeting with followers and supporters from Mahabubnagar district.
At least 700 important leaders would attend the meeting, but more than 5,000 people are expected to turn up at Lotus Pond along with them, source said.
