YSR Telangana Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y S Sharmila seems to be getting frustrated with the lack of clarity from the Congress high command to her proposal to merge her party with the Congress.
As the time is running out for the upcoming elections, Sharmila is losing her patience since the Congress is busy with the selection of candidates and not paying any attention to her.
After holding quite a few rounds of talks with the top Congress leaders and meeting Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Sharmila finally set a deadline of September 30 for the merger of the YSRTP with the Congress.
According to a party spokesman, Sharmila held a meeting with senior functionaries and the cadres of the party on Monday and discussed a variety of aspects in connection with the upcoming Telangana state assembly elections.
The YSRTP chief stated that any possibility of working with the Congress will be finalised by the end of September, as the notification timing is fast nearing.
“If no alliance fructifies, then the YSRTP will contest in all 119 constituencies in the upcoming assembly elections,” the spokesman said.
Sharmila also stated that she would tour across all assembly segments starting the second week of October.
During the Monday’s meeting, she assured the cadres that their efforts will be recognised and their interests will be protected.
