Director Hari is famous for his 'Yamudu' and 'Singam' movies and he has created a peculiar style of narration that works for mass audiences. Vikram starrer 'Saamy' raised huge expectations.

Let’s find out its merits and demerits…

Story:
Ramaswamy (Vikram) prepares for civil exams and secures top rank. When asked to choose the cadre, he picks up IPS instead of IAS much against the wishes of his grandparents.

He gets posted to Vijayawada and he comes to know about Ravana Bikshu (Bobby Simha) who has created a criminal empire in Vijayawada.

As he is taking head on with Ravana, it is revealed that he is the same person who killed Ramaswamy’s father Paruswamy (Vikram), an honest police officer.

Rest of the movie is how Ramaswamy takes vengeance on Ravana.

Artistes’ Performances:
Vikram appears in two roles – father and son. There is no consistency in his look. He has given loud performance and bashes up someone or the other in every few minutes. This is most irritating act from Vikram. Soori’s comedy is totally bad.

As main villain Bobby Simha is good. Keerthy Suresh gets the silliest role.

Technical Excellence:
The film has typical style of technical standards of Hari’s movies – fast-paced camera movements, racy editing.

However, the music is pretty ordinary and the production values are not upto the mark though much of the movie is shot in Delhi.

Highlights:
Nothing

Drawback:
Everything

Analysis
This is Telugu dubbed version of “Saamy Square” and sequel to the original Tamil movie “Saamy” starring Vikram and Trisha in the lead roles with Hari directing it.

The prequel was remade in Telugu with Balakrishna as “Lakshmi Narasimha”. The current movie is titled “Saamy” in Telugu.

The story begins with the original movie’s happenings by establishing several sequences for nearly 15 minutes. Later it comes to the current story that is happening 28 years after original “Saamy” was killed.

The film introduces Bobby Simha as Raavana who is settled in Sri Lanka and has  moved to Vijayawada searching his missing father (Kota) and suddenly the movie focuses on Vikram who is working as front office executive in a minister’s office and preparing for IAS exam.

Then Keerthy Suresh is introduced as daughter of this central Minister who falls in love with Vikram because he saved her in some incident.

Her maavayya is Soori, the comedian who keeps on doing nonsensical comedy feats and then Keerthy proposes to Vikram at Taj Mahal but he refuses. On parallel note some action episodes go on….

What is this? Precisely is the point we are stressing out here. The movie completely runs in mindless manner and illogical way. This is the most incoherent, silly, head-ache inducing, loud and illogical action mass movie that has come out in the recent times.

Post-interval the proceedings in Vijayawada will put badly made 90’s Saikumar movies to shame.

The confrontational scenes between Vikram and Bobby Simha, the love track of Vikram and Keerthy, and Soori’s comedy are enough to prove how badly Hari has made this movie.

All in all, this is a movie that even die-hard mass movie lovers would not sit through till the end. Take plenty of Amrutanjan bottles if you dare to step in the theatre for this one.

Bottom-line: Devudaa!!!
