Rumblings continue in YSRC over change of candidates!

Rumblings continue to rage in the ruling YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh following the appointment of new in-charges of the party in various constituencies by the party high command.

On Tuesday, several supporters of senior YSRC leader and Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkata Ramana in Repalle assembly constituency in Guntur district resigned from the party in protest against the appointment of Dr Epuri Ganesh, son of former TDP minister Epuri Seetharavamma, a relatively newcomer into the party, as the prospective candidate.

Hitherto, Mopidevi had been the in-charge of Repalle constituency but since he is already a Rajya Sabha member, his son Rajeev has been nurturing the constituency for quite some time.

At present, the constituency is being represented by Telugu Desam Party candidate Anagani Satyaprasad and Mopidevi and his family have been going all out to wrest this seat in the coming elections. But when the party leadership appointed Ganesh as the in-charge, the Mopidevi family is thoroughly disappointed. Readmore!

Though Mopidevi did not make any statement opposing the appointment of Ganesh, his followers have gone on the rampage and ransacked the party office. Many corporation chairpersons, market yard members and ZPTCs resigned from their memberships.

Expressing anger at the appointment of new party in-charge for Repalle, they said they would not work for the party in the coming elections and asked the party leadership to reconsider the decision.

Similar protests are coming up from several assembly constituencies in the state for the appointment of new members as the party in-charges and reshuffling of the candidates in some other constituencies.

However, in Gajuwaka, senior YSRC leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board chairman Y V Subba Reddy managed to douse the fire by convincing Tippala Devan Reddy, son of sitting MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy to accept the appointment of Varikuti Ramachandra Rao.

Nagi Reddy and Devan Reddy met the party coordinator Y V Subba Reddy on Tuesday and after getting a concrete assurance from him, they said they had no plans to quit the party.
