Revanth to maintain cordial ties with Modi!

Unlike his predecessor and Bharat Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao, new chief minister of Telangana A Revanth Reddy does not want to adopt a confrontationist approach towards the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This was the impression one might have got after the first meeting of Revanth Reddy with the Prime Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday.

He, along with his deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, had a 30 minutes meeting with Modi to discuss various issues confronting Telangana.

Revanth did not confine himself to submitting a formal memorandum to Modi on the state issue and seeking financial assistance as every chief minister does. He explained to Modi why the BRS government had lost, what he intends to do in the coming days and what his focus areas are. Readmore!

The chief minister also presented a copy of the white paper presented by his government in the assembly on state financial position, before asking for what is due to the state from the Centre.

“Modi was also very much impressed with the modesty and simplicity of Revanth Reddy,” sources in Delhi said.

This is for the first time in the last two and a half years that a Telangana chief minister had met the Prime Minister.

When he was in power, KCR used to display a lot of hatred towards Modi and that led to the latter denying lot of benefits to the state.

Obviously, Modi was hurt at the way KCR had avoided him whenever the former came to Hyderabad, ignoring the basic protocol. There was absolutely no coordination between the KCR government and the Centre.

Not only did KCR stop meeting the Prime Minister but also prevented his ministers from showing any initiative to seek the help of the Centre.

“But Revanth has decided to maintain cordial relations with the Modi government,” sources said.

If at all there are any political differences, they would be taken care of the party high command. But as the chief minister of Telangana, Revanth won’t clash with the Centre so that he would get what is due to the state, sources said.
