Revanth eyeing L B Nagar in next elections?

Firebrand Telangana MP and newly-appointed president of Telangana Congress Committee president Anumula Revanth Reddy is most likely to dump his native Kodangal in the next assembly elections, scheduled to be held in 2013.

Revanth represented Kodangal assembly constituency in erstwhile combined Mahabubnagar district twice – between 2009 and 2018.

He put in a lot of efforts to win the seat for the third time in the December 2018 assembly elections, but lost to Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate Patnam Narender Reddy with a slender margin.

That is perhaps why Revanth appears to have decided that Kodangal is no more a safe seat for him and the TRS would go all out to defeat him at any cost.  Readmore!

So, he has already started looking for a safer constituency to contest the next elections, scheduled to be held in 2023.

Sources said Revanth has got a survey done about the prospects of his victory in the next elections and he found L B Nagar on the fringes of Hyderabad as the safe seat for him.

This constituency falls under Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency, which he now represents.

Secondly, L B Nagar comprises a large number of Andhra settlers and because of Revanth’s Telugu Desam Party background, they have some soft corner for him.

Thirdly, this is a traditional Congress bastion, though they the people voted for TDP candidate R Krishnaiah in 2014 due to state bifurcation impact.

In 2018, they once again voted for Congress candidate Devireddy Sudheer Reddy but he defected to the TRS later, which angered the local voters.

During the 2019 parliament elections, Revanth Reddy, who contested on Congress ticket, got good number of votes in L B Nagar assembly segment.

In the last GHMC elections, the BJP managed to win good number of divisions due to lack of proper candidates for the Congress.

But when Revanth showed personal interest, the Congress candidate won the Lingojiguda division easily.

So, by all means, Revanth Reddy might contest from L B Nagar in the next assembly elections, for which he has already started preparing the ground, party sources close to him said.

At the same time, Revanth doesn’t want to lose grip on Kodangal, too.

He is planning to field his brother or wife from this constituency, so that he would retain his hold here, too, sources added.
