Revanth blames media for Cong defeat!

Despite granting the separate statehood for Telangana, the Congress party has been totally rejected by the people of the state. In every election since 2014, except in a few, the party has been facing humiliating defeat.

After losing the deposit in the recently held by-elections to Dubbak assembly seat, the Congress has not made any effort to bounce back in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, even as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janata Party took the elections prestigiously.

The party leaders put up a half-hearted attempt and their campaign was completely lack-lustre. As a result, the voters did not take the Congress seriously. It won just two seats, that too, due to influence of local leaders.

Instead of making an introspection as to what is wrong with the party and its leadership, Pradesh Congress Committee working president A Revanth Reddy blamed it on the media houses for not coming to the rescue of the Congress in the elections. Readmore!

In his reaction over the outcome of the GHMC elections, Revanth Reddy said media was primarily responsible for the defeat of the Congress in the GHMC elections.

“The media has not played its role properly. It has hurt the Congress party and its cadre and we strongly condemn the attitude of the media,” he said.

Revanth alleged that the media was sold out to the TRS and the BJP and worked against the Congress.

“The media has taken supari from the two parties to kill the Congress party. We could not win the polls, because we did not pay money to the media,” he alleged.

He wondered why the media was blowing the trumpet for the BJP, which did not get even 10 per cent votes in 2016. On the other hand, the Congress performed better than in 2016 and improved its vote bank by four per cent, he pointed out.

“Media has killed democracy by taking money from the TRS and the BJP. Because of their attitude, every political party is now forced to start its own media house. This will kill democracy,” he said.

The PCC working president expressed concern over the growth of the BJP in Telangana.

“In place of lesser rowdy like KCR, we are now faced with a bigger rowdy like Modi. The mainstream media is running after Modi and killing democracy,” he said.

He appealed to the media to mend its ways and give equal importance to the Congress in its analytical stories.
