Pushpa 2 has achieved something huge, and the record it has set is very difficult for any Bollywood film to surpass in the near future.
The kind of success it’s experiencing in the Hindi belt, with its phenomenal performance in the Hindi version, is incredible. This is the biggest film ever to achieve this kind of collection in Hindi in India.
Though Dangal boasts about being the number one Indian film in terms of highest collections, a large chunk of its earnings came from China, not from India. Baahubali 2 also did well across all regional languages, not just in Hindi.
However, regarding the Telugu version, Pushpa 2 has yet to break even in Nizam and Andhra. It has broken even only in Ceded.
But still, the Nizam and Andhra distributors are hopeful they can break even soon since the film’s run is still ongoing. Their strategy is to keep the film running slowly until the Sankranti season. With ticket prices being reduced, they expect a repeat audience, as well as families who missed it in the early days.
The film continues to do well on weekends, although weekday occupancy is around 20-30%.
Overseas, the film is in the top 5 list but hasn't been able to break new records.
Had the film not done well in Bollywood, it would have ended up as an average grosser. However, Bollywood audiences have supported the film and helped it remain strong on a national level sitting in Top Chair.
